1965 Chevy Chevelle Super Wagon

This model required MUCH filing and sanding! The kit was full of flash and some of the details seemed to blurred. This may be an older mold that has worn out. The interior tub was very warped and took a lot of work to get it even semi-straight. The clear plastic headlights are too large and needed to be filed down prior to installation into the grille. The fit of the rear bumper leaves a lot to be desired. The engine compartment lacks much detail (no wheel wells, rudimentary radiator, etc.) so the engine looks lost when installed. The front end suspension is molded into the chassis and uses a through-the-engine steel axle to attach the wheels. Rear axle, exhaust and mufflers are also pre-cast into the chassis. It also lacks rear-view and side-view mirrors. These are some of the other reasons I suspect the kit is cast from an older manufacturer's mold. You do get options to build several version and a alternate set of blue headlights and interior glass is included. I used my own custom-made decals to build a representation of a NASA vehicle for a friend whose Dad worked at NASA in Florida during the 60s. He isn't a big modeler so the lack of detail won't bother him. I have a few more of these kits and will make MANY modification on them to add the lacking details when I do build them. Overall, the kit is pretty simple to assemble, aside from all the work cleaning up the plastic. If you want a simple to build kit and don't care about many details, don't mind taking the time to clean up all the flash, then it would be an acceptable purchase.
