"Kit Comparison"

Main improvement over the original kit is the thicker saucer hull. The down side is it has less detail and no pre marked windows. Also the 'grooves' on the side of the rear deck are no longer present same for the saucer edge. All in all it is a nice kit.

This is a great kit with a lot of potential for modification not to mention that it has had some corrective surgery.There is still room for improvement, but a great kit at a great price from a great hobby store.

The tooling is exceptional. it has limited items to paint. Most will be covered with the extensive Aztec decals that I bought separately. I know I'm going to love building this model.

I picked up this larger kit of the Reliant when it was released a few years back. I had seen it during its initial release but wasn't building models then. When it was re-released I jumped on it. It went on the bench fairly quickly and is a very nice kit. I will admit it took extra effort to do all the detailed painting and to figure out how to build the wing and blend it into the model. I also added the Aztec decal set which really sets it off although it is also somewhat demanding of the modeler. I highly recommend this kit to all Trek builders and especially those of probably the best of the original series movies.
