Versatile kit to expand almost any medieval army
The Fireforge Foot Sergeants box is a neat little kit with lots of versatility. The box is a great value for it's price, containing nearly 50 figures - this is a great kit for building your medieval army quickly. The models assemble very easily (only the crossbows prove a little fiddly at times), and the variety of heads, bodies, weapons, and shields provides enough variation that no two models need be identical, while remaining cohesive overall.
The detail on the models is a bit bland, but not unsatisfying - they look great with a quick coat of paint and a wash, and look nice on both the shelf and the table. The somewhat generic appearance is perhaps even part of the charm of this kit, oddly enough - there aren't many boxes out there that do a better job of reinforcing your army meaningfully, quickly, and in such a way that they will look right at home whether your diorama or game is set in medieval Europe or any number of fantasy settings.
If you're on the fence about this box, I'd recommend looking online for side-by-side comparisons with other manufacturers. You can find kits out there with better detail and better posing, but such boxes are likely to have half as many models. This box is best used as reinforcements - look elsewhere for your centerpiece figures, but when it's time to give those centerpieces an army to lead, this box is ideal.
It's definitely worth noting that lots of Fireforge kits are cross-compatible. Another highlight of this kit is the pile of spare bits you'll have left over, which can then be used to create even more variety with other boxes in the future such as the archers or mounted sergeants.
