Bf109G6 Fighter

The Hasegawa 1/48 Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 model kit is a high value kit for it's reasonable price point. Although it does not have the rivet detail found in the Eduard Me 109 kits, it's lower price point and precision fit parts make it worth building. The builder is provided with a comprehensive decal sheet to build up either Alfred Grislawski's No. 10 or Heinrich Bartel's No. 13 fighter aircraft. The only aftermarket items recommended for this build are Eduard's 1/48 canopy/wheel mask (EX017) and Eduard's Seatbelts Luftwaffe WWII Fighters (49002) PE set, as the kit has no seatbelt/harness molded seat detail or decal. I added aerial antenna wire to my build using fishing line. Àlthough not depicted on the box art or in the Marking and Painting guide, swastika decals for the vertical tail plane are provided. Drilling out the gun bores to simulate this detail is challenging. Due to the extensive stencil decals, their application will require a considerable amount of time. Many of them are tiny and they will require precision tweezers and a round tooth pick to position them. A magnifying glass is also helpful for this task. Installation of the swirl decal for Heinrich Bartel's fighter plane is a challenge. Use of Micro Sol and Micro Set for installing this decal is recommended. The instructions are very clear, however, the Marking and Painting guide are black and white diagrams. Airbrush skills are recommended for this build. Although the build of this kit is straight forward, due to the issues mentioned in this review, I would recommend this build for intermediate to advanced budget minded builders with airbrushing skils.

after my trials with the new Tamiya G6 I still needed something that built up with all the panels closed. this was great. it fit very well and had great exterior detail. it was a little lacking in interior detail, but if you're building one gear up with a pilot who is gonna know. I was completely pleased wit the kit and results.
