With approximately 542 parts total, this kid is said to be a bit over engineered. Arguably the greatest 1/48 F-14D up to date. The kit comes with a complete load out of F-14D armaments. The kit also has sweepable wings and a detailed instruction kits, along with a plethora of options. I'd totally recommend this to anyone, but it costs a pretty penny. Once again, this price at hobbylinc is your best bet. Certainly the best 1/48 F-14D out of the box.

"Great out of box Tomcat!"

I have built a lot of various tomcats in 1:48 scale, and this one by and far trumps them all. I read a comparison review between this and the Hasegawa Tomcats, and what I read in the article made this kit seem to stand out more than the Hasegawa. Upon receiving the kit, I was amazed by how many parts are required to build this into a finished product. One thing you won't notice is a whole lot of available aftermarket stuff out there for this one. Some might think that's a let down, but to be honest, there's really not much use for aftermarket, because I was highly impressed with the level of detail out of the box. I worked F-14's for five years in the Navy, and can say that this one gets it pretty much right, considering it's small scale. There are a few things that can be a good or a bad thing. If you're planning on building this as a static display, then you're in for a lot more work to get all the loose bays closed up, and filled. However, if you're looking for a maintenance diorama scene, then this is the only Tomcat for you. Radar can be displayed open, avionics bays are also posed open if wanted, and very nicely detailed, and the engines can be built into full mock up displays. However, if you're wanting a closed up flight line bird, or in flight display, then you'll need to close all this, and the engines are almost a waste considering all the detail gets stuffed into the fuselage and closed up. The cockpit detail is the best part for me on this kit. Really nice and crisp details, and the engineering is pretty nice. You'll also probably want to invest in a heavy duty set of aftermarket gear, as the default gear are a bit of a pain. I wound up breaking two of them in the process of getting one kit put together. All in all, you're not going to find more bang for your buck than this kit. If you're looking for a solid replica without having to spend an additional hundred dollars on aftermarket accessories, then this is the kit for you.

With approximately 542 parts total, this kid is said to be a bit over engineered. This kit and the Hasegawa kit are about neck and neck in detail. The kit comes with a complete load out of F-14D armaments. The kit also has sweepable wings and a detailed instruction kits, along with a plethora of options. I'd totally recommend this to anyone, but it costs a pretty penny. Once again, this price at hobbylinc is your best bet.
