PLAAF JJ-5

The JJ-5 is a special Chinese training variant of the classic Mig-17.The Russians never built a two seat Mig-17 of their own so this variant is basically a hybrid between the standard fighter Mig-17 and the Mig-15UTI trainer. This appears to be the only available JJ-5 in 1/48th scale. The fit is generally good but will require some filler and cleanup. Careful polishing will be need if one is to finish in natural metal. It should also be noted that the JJ-5 had the non after burning engine so changes will be needed to be made to the exhaust for complete accuracy. Some of the smaller panels underneath the rear fuselage will also need to be changed so be sure to check your references. Accuracy issues aside, this is a well detailed kit and looks very nice. It will be worth the effort to add Hobbyboss's JJ-5 to your jet collection.
