"classic old mpc funny car kit; cool subject matter, challenging build; rewarding when done."
bkatz4
like most of the old mpc funny car kits, this one contains a really cool and unusual subject. also like the old mpc kits, there are challenging aspects to the fit, instructions, and the fact that they shared many parts from other kits that may frustrate the builder. as an experienced modeller, i was able to make the stock grille and bumpers look like they belong on a funny car body. the kit contains several chassis/steering parts from other kits, plus similar looking parts exclusively for this kit, with little information to builder to make sense of. with patience and test fitting, these quirks can be worked out and the results can be very rewarding. bottom line is this kit looks simple, but really requires some experience, and modelling skills to come together well. i would recomend it for experienced modellers, who can slow down and savor a challenging project.

Sure is nice to see more of the old originals come back, still waiting for Mr Unswitchable GTO to reappear someday.

"Impossible to Match the Box Design"
Mrs. Fiske (New York)
This is actually a tough review to write. The model parts themselves are quite detailed and fit together quite well. I have two issues that have been making me unhappy though. The first is that there are no numbers on the model parts. I don't mean the numbers are on the tree instead of the part, I mean there are no numbers anywhere. You need to match the way the part LOOKS in the directions with the way the part LOOKS on the tree. This is sometimes tough with various Axel's etc. The second issue was a MAJOR upset and I will post pictures of this in the gallery when I get a chance. I made the model the same color as on the box. It's an orangy red. I went to add the really cool gold decals to my body and was shocked to find you could barely see the design. It just looked like tons of paint blemishes (after having work hard to get pristine paint). If you buy this model, I HIGHLY encourage you to skip the decals! Who would have expected that it was impossible to match the picture on the box? Especially because the direction do not include paint colors and direct you to use the box cover for paint suggestions. Unless you have your own unique plans for this model, I don't recommend it.
