Pretty good but very strong odor
I use this and Tamiya Basic putty every so often for gap and seam filling. (use the basic on gray plastic, white on white plastic, etc.) It's pretty easy to apply. There is a minor amount of shrinkage when it dries which is made even worse by using lacquer thinner. I just use it straight up out of the tube. It's got a very strong smell so I recommend using this in a well ventilated area. For heavy jobs i typically use a little milliput, followed by tamiya putty, And then if i need an even finer coat I finish up with some Mr. Surfacer.
The Tamiya putty is really easy to sand so go carefully as to not remove too much.
Good putty, very strong odors though.

I've been using this for minor seam filling on scale kits and it does the job well. It sands smooth and is easy to apply. When applying this you want to squeeze out about a marble size drop and add a couple drops of lacquer thinner to thin it to a paint-like consistency. This makes for a thinner coat going on and reduces the amount of sanding required. So far its done a nice job, but the down side is that it does have odors because it is lacquer-based and lacquer thinner is needed to thin it out. So I wouldn't recommend it for kids or those who can't be around the odors.
Pleasantly surprised

I was pleasantly surprised when I started building this model. From the picture, I had worries about painting? or decals. When I started the build, I felt better because the painting was at my discretion and the decals were easy to apply. You just have to study the decals, especially the dotted line ones, and take your time with the application. If I could do it with hands that suffer from tremors, almost anyone can do it. Oh, I did not affix the clear bottom to model since they instructions wanted me to paint it black; it was already black and the fit was just fine.
Disappointed with gap filling performance
The review is in comparison with my experience using Deluxe Materials' Perfect Plastic Putty (PPP). Noting the difference in chemical bases between the two, and based solely on Tamiya's brand & reputation, I expected the Tamiya White Putty to provide superior gap filling performance. However, I saw no dramatic difference between the two. Plus there are the added benefits of less odor, not greasy and easier to cleanup with PPP, which, for now, is my prefered choice for filling small gaps.
Does the job
I use this putty when I'm modifying a part (adding or removing material) not just filling gaps. Its pretty strong once it has time to cure and that depends on how much you use. I always let it sit over night before messing with it. I have had large gaps shrink quite a bit requiring reapplication and set time. Use a good primer and coat it more than once to get a good finish. TIP: I use q-tips dipped in lacquer thinner to smooth out the edges of the a area to reduce sanding.
smooth with minimal shrinkage, needs primer

This is a very good putty. It will fill small holes thru a body without needing a backing piece of plastic inside. It will also fill large areas with no problem. If it is applied in a thick coat you may get some shrinkage. Where it needs to be thick, it is best to apply 2 or more thin coats. The grain is very smooth and sands easily, but it should be sprayed with primer before painting. Some paints such as lacquers will cause it to shrink if it is not protected.
Very happy with this
I used Squadron Putty before, and found it actually ate through the surface of the model kits I tried. I was much happier with the Tamiya putty. A little goes a long way, and very easy to use. Does shrink a little. I keep a lit candle when using certain paints and glues to burn away harmful chemicals, so didn't notice any odor. If you don't do this, be sure to use any putty, glue or paint in well ventilated areas.
One of the best I've used
This is a really nice putty to use. The only complaint I have which is also a perk, is the drying time. Depending on how big of an area you are trying to fill, it tends to dry out before you can get it down. I always give it time to cure for about 4-6 hours before I sand it down, but that's a personal preference. Again depending on the size that's getting filled, it can be ready to be sanded fairly quickly.
Soft Putty

This putty is actually pretty soft and easy to sand. There is a strong odor but it's on the level of paint odors. It probably won't kill you. The putty does shrink a little after it cures which is something to keep in mind. I would use a bit too much putty, and then sand it down. It sands easily so that's not a problem.
It's nice putty for seams but not so good for large fill-ins.
fast dry time.
By: littlejoepinto
Nice putty, watch out though, it dries fast coming out of the tube. It seems to create a skim coating rather quickly. This causes short working time, so get it down and don't play around with it. Give it some time to completely dry and then sand. I like to give it a good 30 min dry time w/ my models, longer w/ deeper gaps.
One of the best
Very fine putty. Lacquer based and it will shrink some. May need a second application for best results. Dries to the touch fast but best if left overnight before sanding. Sands easily. Can be cleaned up with lacquer thinner. Use tape on either side of seam being filled to help protect panel likes or other details
Great Putty to Get
Very smooth quick acting I like this putty a bit more then the green putty however it sometimes can require some thinning to get it juuuust perfect for my needs. However I always keep a few putties in my arsenal. It also is a pretty short cure time about a day to fully let it cure in my environment.
A classic tool for filling in gaps
By: neumannd
A great tool for filling in gaps in models, either due to bad design or bad construction technique (I know from experience!). I put a piece of painters tape or tamiya masking tape on each side of the area I want to putty. It helps create clean lines for those of us without epic skill in application.
Love this putty!

I had been using the grey putty. I saw the white last week & picked up a tube. This stuff is great! I like it a lot better that the grey. Seems that it's easier to work with & dries quicker. Sands out perfect. Can't ask for any better. All pros & I don't have a con.
Good putty for shallow gaps.
This putty has a fair amount of solvent in it, which means it shrinks after the solvent evaporates. You may need to reapply multiple times to fill a gap. Sands down well. Its white, so usually it will not show through paint. A good product with not many good alternatives.
Very easy to work with!

This putty squeezes out of the tube in almost liquid form. Spreads smoothly with an applicator knife to fill gaps, holes and seams. Sands quickly when dry and takes paint nicely. Don't know how I was building models before I discovered this product.
Tamiya Putty is just what is needed!
For zimmerit coatings on my German WWII tanks, I used the Squadron Green Putty, but it needed more finesse to master, whereas the Tamiya Putty is slightly finer, creamier, yet not runny and more forgiving as a zimmerit coating. Highly recommended!
usefull thing
Tamiya putty is great if you have to full some holes in your model or just model texture over some areas. It smell, and it sticks to you fingers, but its easy to clean. Its not for molding for objects as its almost liquid.
Good Overall
Be sure to allow plenty of drying time to let the putty set before you start sanding. I find that Testors plastic cement makes for a very good solvent to thin the putty as you apply it, if needed.

EASY TO USE
I HAVE USED THIS PRODUCT FOR QUITE A WHILE, STAYS FRESH IN THE TUBE FOREVER. APPLIES ON MODELS SMOOTHLY AND DRIES VERY HARD, SANDS UP NICELY. I HAVE FOUND NO CONS WITH THIS PUTTY.

This is a high quality putty. It is very smooth and in my opinion it is superior to that of Squadron Products. Like said in the review, it can be diluted with lacquer thinner.

Top quality putty/filler
Just as good as Tamiya's gray putty/filler. Goes on smooth and hardens in minutes. Can be thin with Tamiya Lacquer thinner. Great for filling in gaps along seams.

A good filler putty. No mixing required, not a real long cure time, sands easily after curing, shapes easily also. A little goes a long way.

Good strong putty. Easy to apply. Only drawback is that it has a strong smell. Use in well-ventilated area. End results will not disappoint.

Very good putty. It's easy to use and once it drys it sands smooth. Prime it and blends right in with contours of the model.

I did not expect it to shrink as much as it did. But, still far better than most fillers out there.
Nice product but prepare for shrinking
By: travis.getz
There’s some shrinkage with this product as it dries. Prepare to reapply when filling gaps.
