"Monogram's First Serious 1/48 Kit"

It was 1963, and this kit was a sensation. It included markings, instructions and alternate parts for no fewer than eight different Focke-Wulfs, and presented us with an essential addition to the 1/48 coverage. The decals included a blizzard of maintenance stencils, typical now but not back then, and swastikas. With this kit, Monogram in effect announced that there would be kits catering to serious hobbyists going forward. My spares box started to fill up with drop tanks, bombs, gun pods, rockets, and oversize desert air intakes. And whatever hangup anybody had with swastikas, versimilitude was honored and the kit replicated the markings of the real airplane, as it should. There are slicker kits out there, but you can still bring off a nice Fw-190 using this kit.

One of my favorite WWII planes, and Revell quality.

When I was a youngster just getting started in modeling, this was my favorite kit. Now as an adult i'm just as excited to build this kit as I was then. The quality is good and the variety of versions there are is outstanding and the directions are easy to follow. I highly would recommend this kit to anyone beginner on up. Enjoy.
