Special Navy U-Boat Type II A German Sub

German Reichsmarine/Kriegsmarine coastal and training submarine - developed as a first step towards re-armament circumventing the German submarine limitations set by the Treaty of Versailles. Small (nicknamed 'dugout canoes' by their crews) they were unsuited to long patrols, but were used in combat early in WWII. Kit features 4-piece full hull with open limber holes, deck with engraved plank and grate detail, conning tower with full bridge, turned aluminum periscopes (x2), resin parts (screws, gun details, bollards, conning tower eagle crest), white metal parts (anchor, rails, stanchions, bridge hatch) and photo-etch details (handholds, conning tower grates, bow numbers, bridge eagle crest, hull details). Completed model is approximately 22.3" long. Decals and painting reference for 4 schemes: U-1, U-3 (x2) and U-6.
