CH47A Chinook Helicopter

I was very disappointed in the quality of this model. The parts do not always fit right, even with some finagling. There are small metal parts included, part of the wheel assembly and pieces had broken off of them. The arm assembly for the rotor blades broke off, making the 1 rotor essentially useless. The instruction manual is not always clear about how a part goes together. Overall, I would not recommend this model.

The only problems I can find with this kit is the lack of cabin detail aft of the cockpit. IE the very promonient troop seats. The kit also lacks any detail in the upper and lower ramp area. The upper ramp area was filled with the aft transmission,hyd pumps electrical generators and the APU. These items are aviabale from Cobra CO. in cast resin or a photo-etch detail set from Eduard. The twin wheel aft gear were mainly common to only the prototype and very early service models, these being converted to thr fully steerable single whell aft gear. This option is also aviable from Cobra Co. This being said the kit offers a nicely detaile model of the early Chinook. The kit offers 2 nicely detailed Lycoming T-55 engines, photo etch F.O.D. screens and various photo etch screens on the front and aft pylons. The cockpit detail is very nice . The overall fit is good. A nice touch is the white metal gear and rubber tires. The model is quite impressive when completed. If you choose to add the aftermarket accessories the model is absolutely stunning when completed. Overall a fine offering from Trumpeter of one of the US. Army's work horses. I would highly recommend this kit.
