"Greatlittle kit"

Zvedzda always does a good job and the Yak-3 is no exception. It is very detailed (the outside of the fuselage has the horizontal lines that were typical of the Yaks) which adds to the detail. U can make this a plane flown by the free french aviators who flew in the soviet army, and it realitsically has limited firepower (like all soviet fighters in WWII). The color schemes provided were interesting but i went with the all dark olive with Russian blue undercarriage. The only problem for me was the landing gear, which I eventually had to abandon. But, otherwise, it was worth it. Decals are cool too!

"very detailed engine, but had to make choices over all very nice kit"

The first Zvezda kit I built a few months ago had wonderful engine detail, but I couldn't figure out how to fit it all into the fuselage Well(duh) I find out with this kit that I couldn't do it; I had to choose between the engine without cowlings, or the complete fuselage.(doh).not happy having to make the choice. I ended up building the engine and its mounts separately. without cowlings to put it next to the finished aircraft The kit otherwise was a nice clean build with no putty and little sanding needed. I was fun to go on the internet and find that there were pictures of two of the actual aircraft that you could build, with their different paint schemes. I chose number six. I like the lightning bolt. nice clean kit.
