"Works well in HO scale Athearn Heavyweight passenger cars"
shippinjim
I bought this N scale lighting kit to put in my HO scale Athearn Heavyweight Clerestory passenger cars. It is 5-1/2 inches long and has 6 LED lights. I cut a piece of Plastruct #90798 rectangular stock to fit between the clerestory portion of the car's roof. I also cut a groove in rectangular stock to allow the LEDs to slide through when you need to remove the lighting kit and replace the batteries. I've included some photos of the process and the final result. I used the kit in a Heavyweight Diner with interior accessories and very pleased with the way it looks.

"Easy to use and install"
bobfelker
Easy to install in my older Con-Cor N scale passenger cars. The only snafu, and it wasn’t because of the lights themselves, was the way the Con-Cor cars are made. The roofs and windows are one piece clear plastic with the roof painted black. This allowed light to leak around the top of the car. I solved this with a 1/8” piece of black vinyl electrical tape wrapped around the top of the interior of the roof. Do this before installing the lights.

"Easy Peasy???"

I was not able to get the light to turn on, after carefully following the battery installation and operation instructions. Another unpleasant surprise was that the light unit is too long to fit inside the roof of the passenger equipment (heavyweight) that I am running. CAUTION: If you decide to try one, first measure the interior ceiling length of your equipment and find out from Rapido the length of the light. Just because the package says N Scale does not mean it will fit.
