US P-61C Black Widow

The kit comes with 8 grey sprues and 1 clear parts sprue. 6 of the 8 grey sprues are duplicates since the airplane has 2 mirror sides. First off, do yourself a favor and buy the Eduard mask set (CX 528). This thing has A LOT of windows. The kit has beautiful surface detail with both engraved and raised detail. The interior detail is adequate but not as nice as the exterior. There is room to add your own scratch building. Do a little research for interior paint colors as Hobby Boss only lists the major color (zinc chromate). Construction is fairly straight forward, but as with any airplane that has 2 identical sides, make sure you get your lefts and rights on the right side of the model. Overall fit was very good. The only trouble spot was connecting the 2 tailbooms. Both needed sanding and filling. The decals were very nice. Well printed and went down easily with micro sol and micro set. The kit requires A LOT of forward weight. Instructions call for weight in the nose and in the engine nacelles. I stuffed them all with as much weight as could fit in, and the plane barely stays on its nose gear. The kit does have some photo-etch parts for the sensors around the cockpit area. The only head scratcher is that the kit does have parts for a gun turret, but there is no mention of it in the instructions. After doing some research, there were some C models that had a gun turret on the top. Overall, really nice kit and fun build. Would definitely recommend.
