I was heartbroken some years ago when news of Monarch's closing down came out. Nosferatu, Gorgo, The Ghost of Castle-Mare, all rendered in the spirit of the Aurora Monster Models (and I was building those in the 1960s, kids!). Then, the joyful revelation of Monarch's return with The Fly and The Moon Suit (the kit I was particularly waiting for). The Fly is a terrific kit of the classic 1958 science fiction film. This is a model to savor assembling. Take the time to fill the seams, slight as they are. Don't just use gloss paints; vary the finishes. Spray the eyes with color-shift paint. It's worth it for the effect. Admittedly, the kit is a bit pricey (and I understand why), but it lets me time travel back 60 years and re-experience the glee of building those Aurora monsters. It's worth the price for that. Thank you Monarch!
