I am in the final stages of building this kit and will post images soon. Like rkoenn, I am happy this kit was produced, but disappointed in the overall product. The torso did not fit the legs, which are comically too short, and required a modest amount of putty in the back. The seams fit okay, but there the detailing all but disappeared, especially the veins around the jaw. If definition was spared for moveable joints, then that was a poor trade. I also glued the moveable parts in place like rkoenn. That was a novelty concept when it was introduced decades ago to draw kids who wanted a model that was also a toy. I'm not sure today's aging modelers are as keen on that now. I'm being a little gentle with the rating. This model was occasionally frustrating, not to be confused with challenging. However, I really appreciate what the folks at Atlantis are doing. I recommend this model to older modelers who are big fans of the movie, This Island Earth, because the alternative kits are ridiculously expensive.

I knew this creature from the 1950's classic, This Island Earth movie. It was a creature modelers of scifi have desired for a long time and one Aurora may have been planning before closing. Atlantis finally did a kit of it in the old Aurora style. It does a good job of capturing the creature who was only in the movie for a few short minutes at the end as I recall. That said this is much more of a '60s quality kit, which it was made to be reminiscent of, than a modern kit. The fit is fine but hardly up to current technology. It is fairly simple and can be made to be articulated but I glued it hard in place and filled in the awful gaps used for articulation. In the end it is a worthy kit but mainly because of the subject matter and not the quality of the kit.
