From the perspective of building a wargaming unit, this set is close to being great, but it falls a little short. With 15 mounted figures and 2 dismounted, you just don’t have enough dismounted cavalry without looking around to supplement from other sets. I would have either preferred a more even distribution of mounted and dismounted or all mounted. The poses are excellent, though, so my grumbling is based more on a compulsion I have for the numbers to work out and is, in the grand scheme of things, utterly insignificant. The dismounted troopers are in two poses: 1 kneeling/firing and one reloading. Happily, both come with horses, so that adds a lot of flexibility to what can be depicted. The 15 mounted troopers come in 9 poses, and you get one each of these: Bugler, Colors, and Spyglass Guy. The other 6 poses have two figures apiece: Carbine/firing, Pistol, and 4 poses with sabers, all of whom also carry firearms. The figures are mostly facing forwards, so that helps in creating a sense of unified direction and movement in cavalry bases. The figures look great when painted, and they are sturdy like most Italeri products. Bear in mind: the engraved colors for the set are utter garbage. They should be modified to become useful. This set is really nice and gets my recommendation. After painting and basing, it fits in well with the following sets I use: Italeri Set 6012 “Union Infantry with Zouaves,” Italeri Set 6038 “Union Artillery,” Italeri Set 6014 “Confederate Infantry,” Italeri Set 6011 “Confederate Cavalry,” IMEX Set 505 “Union Infantry,” IMEX Set 503 “Union Cavalry,” IMEX Set 501 “Union Artillery,” IMEX Set 506 “Confederate Infantry,” IMEX Set 502 “Confederate Artillery,” and IMEX Set 504 “Confederate Cavalry.”

An excellent addition to my Union forces!I have now both Cavalry and Infantry in my collection looking forward to getting more cavalry...BTW the horses and riders are very detailed, my Grand-daughter wanted to play with them right away. Cons? I see none, only pros here

a really great set has just about everything in it . easy to paint can be turned in to csa troopers easily jusy by the stroke of a paint brush . the same go's for all the civil war sets
