WWII German Fw189A1 Night Fighter

The finished model is outstanding. On the postive side, the detail is fantastic and the model is a great addition to anyone's collection. But, it was a frustrating build. Parts did not fit properly. The landing gear needed to have some clear plastic add-on to make it support the aircraft without fearing it would collapse the first time someone touched it. The instructions left much to be desired, including correct identification of some parts, and instructions to build the night-fighter version, when (in my kit) the parts to do that were not included. I decided to build a night-recon version anyway, and was pleased with the outcome, though I used more body putty on this model than any other I've built. You will need to look ahead three or more steps to understand how to fit parts into the model so you don't have to redo them. And a reference book like Warplanes of the Luftwaffe, which has pages of detail on the FW-189, would be IMO, essential to a good build. FREX, the windows can all be built open, but only a reference book will tell you that both side and top windows open upward. Recommended only for experienced modelers who want a challenging build.
