Reviews

The reviews highlight consistent issues with the kit's fitment and accuracy, particularly noting problems with the chassis, interior, and engine compartment not aligning properly, often requiring significant modifications like cutting, grinding, and trimming. Many reviewers criticized the lack of detail in components such as the suspension and exhaust, which are often molded into the chassis, and mentioned the need to source or create additional parts to improve realism. Overall, the kit is seen as challenging and not suitable for beginners due to these fit and detail shortcomings.

MPC 69 BARRACUDA
I built this kit because i remember the same color car a neighbor owned when i was a kid in the early 70s,but it had different wheels, not the rare factory aluminum wheels i used on my kit, these wheels were quickly recalled for cracking around the lugnut holes,i used a chassis from a general lee kit that had a destroyed body which i modified to fit so it would have a more accurate engine compartment,as the kit comes the engine compartment is not correct, the headlights are are too small plus,i don't like molded chrome headlights so i drilled them out and replaced them with a set from the parts box,i also added sparkplug wires and factory style wire brackets made from fine wire from a bread twisty
Not for the beginner
I have built model car kits since 1959 and have to report that I was greatly disappointed with this kit from MPC. The molding of the interior tub (the drivetrain tunnel) and the chassis do not fit together. It was necessary to cut a triangular section from the chassis and use a Dremel tool to deepen and widen the drivetrain tunnel of the interior tub as well as cut down other molded parts of the chassis to finally obtain an acceptable fit. I also fashioned a driveshaft to make the drivetrain look right. I added a vinyl top, used other wheels and tires from my parts of many years, and custom parts from the kit to make this kit worth being in my collection. This kit is not for a beginner.
'69 Barracuda
Like where are the torsion bars? Why yes, as a previous reviewer pointed out, the engine compartment is incorrect. The inner fender wells were not rounded, but straight to mate with the hood/fender line. The front suspension is some generic MPC creation. Lastly the exhaust, rear axle, leaf springs, and shock absorbers are molded into the unibody. This is an average MPC kit; what you might expect. Can't fool me I drove a 1969 Barracuda with the lean 318, but that's why I had to have this model. Needless to say, I'll just write it: the price should be lower.
