Scharnhorst

This kit is mostly a joy to build. The hassles are in all the moving parts. The caps that hold all the turrets and cranes as well as the catapult. The caps are donuts and too large so you have to put the turret in the hole and put on the donut glue the bottom and hold in place until it sets enough to hold the turret or crane in place. The small cranes have real caps but you need to use very little glue to keep it from freezing the crane in place.The catault in my kit I was forced to glue in place as the hole was too big even with the cap oh well. Ther was a lot of flash around the props and AA gun mounts but it is very thin and cuts away easily. Being a bath tub admiral I float tested the kit she floats right at her load line and is extremely stable I wish I had this one as a kid. The other hassle was the main turrets the guns need to be trimmed to fit well otherwise the turret will strain to the point of the plastic turning white due to the plastic stretching. In closing buy this one the two piece hull did not need the usual rubber bands to close the seam which is rare.
