52' Flatcar Union Pacific #59486

Two notes for this Bachmann car. Brake wheel and staff should be replaced account too large for scale. Common with this manufacturer yet an easy fix if you can drill with a pen-vice and have the bits. I use this car for military vehicles so the staff need not be raised which makes for any deficiencies in craftsmanship to be covered up. If empty or with an immobile load then you may want to raise the staff further. This is affordable for most. More significantly, the 'wood' deck, while fairly well detailed with wood grain and bolts, it is a separate piece held in place to the car floor via tabs and slots. This can be removed if you want to upgrade to a wood deck available from Red Caboose, MoTrak, Intermountain, Moloco or others. I’ve left mine stock. Out of the box the 52’ car weighs 76g. Very light for NMRA specs with a car of this length. It carries two field artillery guns from a Chooch load (#7257). Once added the combined weight came up to 154g. In excess of the specs but not excessive. The car rolls and tracks very well as a result. Paint and printing is high quality. The only other change I made was to replace the stock couplers. Not absolutely necessary but it is my custom to use metal couplers. So in the end I wound up with a very nice car without having to take out a second mortgage on my house, and you can get them both right here at a fair price.
