This car needs no big help straight out of the box but there is a little room for improvement. At 102g it meets NMRA minimum standards for car weight. The derrick is fully rigged but has limited pivot ability due to the rear supports anchored to the car floor for the mast support. There are plastic cross ties on the deck but they need a little paint to make them more realistic looking. This is also true for the trucks as they are not painted but molded with colored plastic. Always a bad idea. The handbrake staff and wheel are metal and more to scale than some other Bachmann cars where plastic is used. There are no foot stirrups. I don't know if this an oversight, a production cost factor or if that is accurate to the prototype. The truss rods and tool boxes are correct but there is no other under car detail. I really do recommend installation of Kadee whisker short shank couplers with a scale head. This car deserves the attention here and their installation makes a very big difference in visual effect. This car is part of a small Central Pacific work train behind the Bachmann model of the Jupiter, so I used it in a lie. The car is Canadian Pacific and carries reporting marks of CP 765 on one end and MOW on the other. In the center of the car is printed Canadian Pacific in small print, so I just painted over it and bang! A Central Pacific MOW car. Maybe I'll add a decal later or add stirrups. This is a good quality car and I can recommend it.
