If you think that Bachmann is the same inferior, poor running trains they were in the 80's and 90's, you will be SHOCKED! Bachmann's latest offerings are as smooth running as locomotives costing TWICE as much. My ONLY complaint is the factory decoder... A good replacement decoder will make this well made loco CRAWL like a Genesis or Proto 2000. The motor and drive are really that smooth!! It does lack the fine details of the more expensive models, but that either makes it more rugged for younger kids, OR, it makes it a fun project to add details to! In other words, put some MODELING in your Model Railroading!! ;) I highly recommend this, and other new Bachmann products.
