Description This is a 1/66 Scale Boston Lighthouse Wooden Model Kit from Constructo. Recommended for Experienced Modelers.
Facts Boston Light was the first lighthouse to be built in the United States; it was first lit in 1716. It was financed by a penny-a-ton tax on ships. At the start of the American Revolution, American troops removed the lamps from the lanterns and burned the tower to prevent the British from using it. It was blown up by the British when they left Boston. At the end of the war, the Massachusetts legislative body passed a budget for the reconstruction of the lighthouse on an island. Today, a United States Coast Guard crew still performs the traditional keepers' duties in it.
