"Excellent clamps to use on models"

These are excellent clamps to use on models. They can be adjusted to hold the parts in place without breaking the plastic. I have several pairs on the bench.

Awsome great asset to my War on Terror diorama. 8'x8' description of activity in Iraq, Afghanistan war zone with US Military Bases and Air Strips.

The Excel 4 Speed Clamp similar in size and function to a 4.5, slightly larger, clamp I found at Home Depot (Dewalt) for about the same price. Both have 1.5 deep jaws, removable pads, friction locks and metal rods. When new, both locks work well (given a 20-30 lbs clamping force). The Excel clamp has a plastic wing nut on the stationary jaw to facilitate converting to a separating clamp. The Excel clamp's locking trigger mechanism is a bit more complex. The jaws and trigger housing on the HD clamp are made of a sturdier, denser plastic. I give the HD clamp the slight edge.

I really like these clamps. sturdy yet easy and quick to use. I bought two to help with my 1/350 battleship Texas but have many other uses including some small wood working projects.
