Californian 1968 Olds Toronado Custom

It is really great to see this Round2 MPC kit of the Californian back after 50+ years. The original issue that I had is long gone. I painted it gold to match the box art back then. I just received the reissue from Hobbylinc and and I am going with Gold paint again. The instruction sheet shows 5 assembly steps with number call outs for the parts in each step but when you look at the parts sprues there are no numbers, however if you look at step number 5 on the sheet there's a special note that explains the numbers on the instruction sheet match the numbers on the bottom of the kit box to easily identify the parts. The kit I received is molded in white. The body and hood are nice, straight, and crisp with some mold parting lines and small traces of flash that need clean up before painting. The parts for the engine, interior, chassis,and other small parts are also nicely molded with little or no flash. The front and rear roll pans (#35 and #34) for the body in my kit had to be reworked by test fitting, sanding, and filing the pans and the body several times until I achieved a flush fit then I had to fill small gaps with putty to get a smooth finish. The chrome parts I received are bright and smooth, especially the very prominent grill and headlight assembly. Also included is a chrome rear bumper assembly that looks like the one for the Joe Mannix Roadster (wow, sure hope Round2 will reissue this one too!) that came before the Californian.This bumper will not fit this kit unless you extensively modify the rear panels. There's also an extra front bench seat and 2 extra scoops not shown on the instruction sheet. I'm having fun building this old-timer again. Pictures coming soon. Thank you Hobbylinc!
