The Academy P-47N has been around for awhile and it's overall shape is accurate but has some flaws that are easily fixed and make for a more accurate model. The cockpit in the kit has a corrugated floor and the real plane had a flat floor. I used the Aires cockpit set for this kit which also has the correct seat with armrests for long distance flights. The cockpit color was not interior green as indicated, it was Bronze Green FS34097. Tamiya XF-5 Dark Green is a fairly close match for it. The gun bays and ammunition trays are present in both wings and are ok out of the box and the gun barrels are correctly oriented and are separate from the wing leading edge insert. The engine in the kit is an early variant R-2800 and it should be a R-2800-C which has a cylindrical gear case and magnetos. Quickboost makes a resin replacement that drops in with a little bit of work. The propeller in this kit has been a bone of contention for a long time but the photos I found of the plane I was building show the asymmetrical paddle blade unit in the kit as the correct prop for my specific plane. The kit decals are of good quality and I used everything except the a/c number and nose art. I finished my bird as 2Big and 2Heavy a P-47N-2RE based on Iwo Jima.
