There is no indication of the skill level of this kit but it is a 5 at a minimum. Very delicate and detailed parts with very little flash. At times I wish I had 3 hands. A lot of patience, time and imagination was needed. Very happy with the result. As usual, AMT directions left much to be desired.

These comments are for the currently released model. Pros – Build your own Ala Kart. Accurate representation of the real vehicle with nice details. Sturdy decals. Convenient plastic inserts for tire whitewalls. Many chrome parts. 3 options for Dodge Hemi intake. 2 options for red taillight lenses. Cons – Many delicate chrome parts may be damaged when removed from sprues, use care. Trimming and sanding was needed to allow chassis, body, and pickup box to fit together. Sidewalls for rear tires appear too thin. I added spacers to make the whitewalls flush with the tires. Ends of both axles needed trimming for wheels to be centered within fenders. Would have preferred pickup box side decals to be more golden in color. I would suggest painting rather than using those decals. For realism, all black striping decals should be like the running board decals. Some instructions for where to attach parts and order of attachment are not clear. Note, there is a small rectangular chrome part not shown in the instructions. It represents a small display plaque. It may appear I have listed many cons, but I am very happy with now having my own Ala Kart! Hopefully, you will be happy in building yours.

I built this kit when it was first reissued with the new tooling,it goes together quite well,and when GEORGE BARRIS himself in person tells you that you did an excellent job and wants a picture of your model,you know you did a great job,he also told me that i was the only modeler that after all these years correctly reproduced the orange anodized aluminum panels on the sides of the bed,it was done bare metal foil,clear orange paint and dull coat,he also autographed the box,and gave me his gold trimmed personal business card before passing on to custom car heaven,I'll never forget it
