Yankee Model Rocket Kit

This is a tried-and-true BT-20 model rocket kit from Estes. There are two version of this kit, with the one pictured here being the modern version. The main differences are the material of the nose cone (the current version being sold is plastic and the older version's nose cone is balsa), the paint scheme and the decals. Whichever version you build, you'll have a fantastic flyer that almost any rocket enthusiast will recognize. One interesting feature of this kit is that the fins are easily cut from a sheet of balsa with a provided pattern. You'll get enough balsa material to create an extra set of fins, which I like as I know I have a little bit of leeway in case I mess up a cut in the balsa or I want to customize my Yankee kit with extra fins or fins of a different shape or size. Like many other Estes BT-20 rockets, this will also work great as a park flyer on 13mm mini engines. You can use an adapter to fly off mini engines or build the Yankee with a 13mm motor mount tube (extra parts may be required, such as a BT-5 tube, 13mm thrust ring and BT-5 to BT-20 centering ring).
