"Definately a more advanced builders kit"
holland.scotty (campbell, california 95008)
Relatively recent back with model building. Rating is definately swayed based upon my bias/frustration level during this build. Purchased this along with the Academy Panzer II (#ACY 13535), and my resurrected old Tamiya Panzer II. Not for the inexperienced builder. A number of miniscule parts that have since jettisoned off into the ether, instead of making it onto the model. Quite a large number of photoetch parts, somewhat thick and a number of which are extremely small - would look great on the kit if I unfortunately didn't loose a few of those, also. Some of the bending instructions a bit vague - in the end I had to leave off some of the fender supports due to my inability to properly decipher the smaller supports bending instructions. Tracks are link and length - instructions also vague as it provides graphic representation of general idea, but easily lost as to exactly how many individual links go on each side of the length sections - basically trial and error. Found that the individual links over the drive sprocket was eleven (11), not five (5). Big difference, but thanks to searching youtube, saw there should be a few more needed. I guess the rest went on the other end? Instructions are basic, only 8 steps (9th is setting the turret and antenna). Had high hopes for this one, but would definately recommend for a more seasoned builder. Interesting subject, as I dont think I have seen this specific version of this tank with the split fenders. Once I gain more experience with the newer processes and different manufacturers, I would revisit this kit again. Maybe I can salvage through the painting process? Would recommend with a cautious BUT...
