1/100 DC3 Dakota All Nippon Airways

A good model. Very little flash and good fit. I enjoyed putting this model together. With very little putty, this is a seamless model. It very nearly is without putty. The only fly in the ointment was the tail wheel. The DC-3 tail wheel that came with my model did not seem to be made for this particular model variation. The instructions(written in Japanese)suggest capturing the gear as the two fuselage halves are joined. The faux rear wheel well simply will not accommodate the gear and appears to be designed for a stub. The double horizontal pins located at the top of the gear fit into nothing but the open space of the fuselage(wouldn't matter, as I say, the gear will not fit into the wheel well). My solution was to remove the knuckle hinge and the top pins of the gear. It slid in perfectly and fit great AFTER the two fuselage halves were joined. No prob. Take care with the long side decals, make sure they are very loose before attempting to remove them. They are delicate and can break. But it was a great model and fun to build. I'm thinking seriously about getting another and turning it into a C-47 'gooney bird'.
