Russian MBT T-72B3

This was the first kit I made by Meng, and for the price I was a little let down in some areas. There were a lot of seams and flash left on pieces, and most parts were aggressively formed to the part frames. This made it very difficult removing small parts. The directions at first look seemed very nice, but a few times they seemed unclear for certain steps. The images were very clear however. This next part is a pro and a con, sort of. The tracks are extremely detailed, requiring about 5 pieces for one entire link!!!! They are 100% workable. It took several hours in total to complete them. Also, the main track piece is very fragile, and easily breaks. Because the tracks took so much time, and the side skirts are so large, I only made enough for what is needed. The detail and accuracy is superb. Even with parts that still have flash on them. I would say a lot of research went into this by Meng. Fit was nice, with need for filler only a few times. The photo etch parts were nice and crisp, but only consisted of grill covers and nothing else. A metal barrel would have been nice, considering the cost, as well. There are a few options for paint and markings, and I would like to have seen more numbers on the decal sheet. I was very happy they included a photo etch stencil for painting the road wheels! Overall, the biggest thing to consider is there really are not any T-72B3 kits on the market. The other option is to buy a T-72 and a conversion kit, which would cost about the same as this kit. The kit was super detailed, but had some unimpressive molding and seams. Personally I think the kit should cost a little less or come with a metal barrel and more photo etch parts to be worth it. But, again this is the only B3 kit I know of out there. It is really up to the buyer.
