My first car (back in 1983!) was the 1973 Beetle 1303S; it was powder blue. I was excited to see this offering; to build the car that I learned SO much on was not to be passed up!!
When I got the kit in the mail, I opened it up to see what I was getting into. The kit itself looks good, the detailing is pretty nice, no warping, relatively little flashing.
But I was HIGHLY disappointed to see that it is a curbside. No real engine - only some molding on the bottom side. Ah, well - I'm still gonna build the thing - it WAS my first car, after all!! But I've got numerous other projects I want to complete first..
Unless you have a burning desire to make a 1973 model 1303 bug (like I do - eventually!), I'd pass on this one. Tamiya has a superb offering with its 1966 bug.. (And there's a number of photo etch detail parts available for the Tamiya! - if you're willing to spend $50-$80 extra on a $24 kit......)
