The Depot Built-N-Ready

This is a great little depot, full of detail, and just what my mountainside layout needed. It is wired for Woodland Scenics Just Plug lighting system.

The Depot is part of a 1960’s era layout and connected to a custom-built accessory power distribution system. The plusses. This is a well-built, wonderfully detailed structure that can fit in a number of era's. The solid construction, coupled with a great mix of colors and hues of the variety of objects on the depot is very nice. Also, the plastic stock is not nearly as noticeable that is typical when it is used. Scale seems spot on too. There are no distinguishable station identification markings which is a plus in my situation. Pre-builts are great for those who are putting together a small layout and don't already own an assortment of paint colors, glue, knifes, tweezers, brushes among other tools and supplies. Additionally, there are no corner light leaks. Have another, non-pre-lit WS structure (the shanty) and corners are lock tight on it too. The custom installed interior LED does not shine through the corners on that structure either. Lastly, Woodland Scenics is one of the few companies that provide sufficient product structure details eg. dimensions, pictures of multiple sides. Very good pre-sales info is accessible. Kudo's to WS A couple of negatives While Woodland sort of requires use of the Just Plug system, there are ways to connect into ones own electrical system. The Depot would have been returned without the ability to use it outside the Just-Plug system. The cost is substantially higher per structure if one has only a couple of these Woodland Just Plug system-based buildings. The additional cost and limited flexibility is important to consider. The only other thing is that the exterior lamp post does not light up. Will probably, and carefully, replace with a LED lamp post. Overall, this is a great value and at around $50, a real winner!
