"Fun to customize, but surgery required"
roblively1982 (Cantonment, Florida)
I had a lot of fun going full custom with this kit. It is a Round 2 re-issue, and the engineering is old school and details are soft. The bottom has all details molded in. The wheels are attached with steel axle, with the front one passing through the engine. You can build it stock, mild or full custom. The decals are perfect and the tires have names with perfect pad printed whitewalls. The fit of the body to frame (with the custom version, at least) was very loose and required reinforcing sprue to hold on. The fender wells are peek-a-boo. The engine is okay, and while there is plenty of room for wiring and extra goodies, it looks okay as is. I went as custom as possible with those parts, replacing the front and rear end, grille, and changing the interior to be fully custom. I think it actually came out pretty good, but it required a LOT of surgery to get everything to fit. Not for the beginner, that’s for sure. Would be a better value if cheaper.

I just received this re-pop and I'm sure, like many of you,I had this kit when I was a kid. Back then I don't think we built anything stock. The more chrome and bolt-ons the better. And that's what this kit has - a generous offering of add-ons and customization possibilities. A real showboat. Can't wait to build it.

Considering the age of the tooling it looked relatively clean with minimnal flash ... Somehow this is one I missed as a kid which I regret, but hey I get a second chance... Recomended just for the cool factor if nothing else.. Pro's are the cool factor & the treasure trove of parts for custom builders, cons are the 60's era AMT molded in details on the chassis plate & tub type interior...
