"Toby the Tram Engine"
clockworkangel74 (Detroit, MI)
Ok, the good first then the bad. This engine is beautiful, in every way, very pleasing to the eye. You can paint it up and decal it in any way you wish. I removed the face on it and covered the hole with an Erie Railroad decal. I will add pictures later tonight. It was very easy to convert to dcc, not much room for a decoder, let alone a speaker so no sound. I added led's to the front and rear and had to make ugly holes where the light fixtures are, but the light it gives off on the rail way is beautiful, well worth it. Ok, the bad... Toby is a lightweight, he can push and pull some things but to much and he stops with his wheels spinning. Toby gets caught on everything, and when I say caught on everything I mean everything, his favorite things to get stuck on are atlas code 200 switch machines, and any kind of platform. You have to remember that he have cowcatchers and they are low, and wide. Other than that I love this engine, he moves around the sidings with grace, and beauty, until he get stuck. Also, metal turnouts he will stall each time through a metal turnout. Knowing what I know now, after having Toby, I would still buy him again, and may purchase another to have a set of them. It's a good buy if you don't mind putting in a little work to help make Toby run on your layout.
