A very good synopsis of the Aerial Attack in support of D-Day. The use of heavy 4-engine bombers (from UK and the US air forces) that was to be made in direct support of the landings, was supposed to crush or at least neutralize the German defenses on the Normandy beaches. It didn’t.
This book does a great service of explaining what happen and why it went wrong.
The book includes a nice selection of period photographs, including battle damage assessments. The text also offers a fascinating set of battle diagrams. I always welcome more information about D-Day. Well recommended to students of the air war of the Second World War.
