"An interesting, lesser-known naval battle from World War II."
hhpodesta
By late 1943, Germany's last operational battleship, the Scharnhorst, still menaced the Allied Arctic supply line to the Soviet Union. The British Admiralty laid a trap, hoping to lure the Scharnhorst out of its Norwegian refuge for a finish fight in the Arctic winter darkness. The German Navy, under pressure to prove its value to Berlin, took up the challenge. Author A. Konstam had done considerable research on this subject, and it shows. The narrative goes from hour by hour to almost minute by minute coverage of a savage sea battle. This is another great Campaign Series book. It provides an excellent account of one of the lesser-known naval battles of World War II. I can strongly recommend it to anyone interested in WW2.
