These spray paints were developed especially for decorating transparent polycarbonate bodies used in R/C car modeling. Paint the body from the inside, keeping the can about 30cm from the surface. After curing, apply another coat. Small details should be brush painted beforehand using Tamiya bottle paints for polycarbonate. These paints are impervious to oil and fuels, so they can be safely used on gas-powered R/C bodies.

"Paint And Consistent Quality Is A Must For Quality Models."
michael.miller (michael.miller@windstream.net)
Quality, consistency and performance are important in any quality model project. Having grown up in the automotive body and fender repair and automotive painting industry, my perspective on paints and finishes is somewhat different than the average modeler. With Tamiya spray paints I look for the same characteristics that I look for in the finished product on a full scale vehicle. I can spot a bad paint or a bad application a mile away. In this particular case of the Tamiya Bright Red Polycarb paint, it was purchased to match custom decals created by a non-OEM producer. Often, other custom modelers and I begin a project with Adobe PhotoShop to create, scale and produce one-off waterslide decals, so the challenge is maintaining color matching from the computer screen to the dried, clear-coated and finished final product. In my case I use PhotoShop with adjusted screen calibrations for print work, then produce the laser images on paper, testing for scale and color, then do a one-off run on waterslide decal paper with various background colors to best display and match the color. And, of course, most small laser printers do not print nor do they have white ink. That feature is only found on machines well beyond what I paid for my first house. Overall, Tamaya gives modelers a common palate of colors in their paints so that my friends in LA can match their decals to a Tamiya paint color and I can match the decals here in Georgia with exactly the same color, intensity and final finish as anyone else in the world. In other words, you cannot expect consistency in color, intensity and final finish from a 1.97 can of No-Name spray paint from Walmart. Those pitfalls are always avoided when using Tamiya paints.
