72' Heavyweight Santa Fe #829

I have five cars from this product line; a combine, two coaches, a sleeper (Moose Lake) and observation. These cars are quite nice. The pigment of the paint is spot on and these cars folded right in with those models I have from Walthers and BLI in modeling Santa Fe train No 19. Out of the box they roll better than the Walthers' cars, the latter needing lubrication. The exterior detail is very good and the interiors are adequate. Of course the price is great while these cars are on sale. Everyone knows there is a but coming, so here it is. They are not fitted with close coupling (short) shank couplers and they are not of standard design, so I'm looking for the proper replacement couplers from McHenry. The diaphragms are inadequate due to thinness and will still be too thin with the replacement coupler, so you may want to change them. The lighting is quite nice and is constant. At first I thought it was a shade too dark of amber until I dimmed the room and found that the shade is very warm and is a nice effect. Overall I'm very pleased with this investment and recommend these models to all
