Freightliner 3-Axle Cabover w/Generator

This model, especially in this price range falls short on too many points to recommend. From the bottom up: The tires are high gloss plastic so plan on doing some painting on these, as well as the molded poorly cast cab detail (handrails behind the cab, lights above cab), brake lights as well as the front and rear mud flaps on the tractor chassis. The chrome work on the fuel tanks, exhaust pipe, front bumper and grille, cab outside mirrors (with CB antennae) and air horns is very good. The latter two of which you need to mount on the cab, parts in box. The wheels are average silver paint. There is a battery box behind the fuel tank on the passenger's side, paint optional. The underside of the chassis has the average bottom of the motor, transmission, dual drive with 2 speed rear ends with some molded suspension detail. I am looking at this tractor sitting right next to a Trucks N Stuff Kenworth T800. There is no comparison. The Trucks N Stuff rig is much, much more highly detailed whereas the Herpa model is not even close, however neither have a cab interior. The bogie has landing gear but that is the full extent of underside detailing on both the trailer and the bogie, the latter missing mud-flaps. The detail on the top of the trailer is okay with weathered planking and a safety tread plate over the rear wheels. Herpa enjoys a good reputation but they missed by a mile with this model. My advice? Save up another $7 and buy two Trucks N Stuff models.
