Good, but rather difficult.
This is a great model and very nice when finished, however the thought that it is an apprentice kit is rather misinforming. I bought this kit on that premise for my boy to start learning, however the instructions were lengthy and full of details and nautical words he couldn't understand. When it came to the build the diecut parts needed trimming on such a precise level that it was better I do it. The rigging for the sail is very advanced, even having one make their own blocks from scratch. This is difficult for even the most advanced. In all it's a great kit and a fun build if you are used to this but don't get it for a beginner.
Good kit but not for beginners.
Like the past review I bought this kit on the promise that it was a beginners kit and while it wasn't all that difficult it's slightly above a beginners level. I have a lot of experience with plastic ship building and I thought this would be a good way to transition from plastic to wood projects and all in all it was. I did however have problems with several of the pieces snapping for no reason. Although none of these issues are visible in the finished product they did however present some problems that had to be jury rigged to correct. In addition to parts snapping for no reason there is also the added difficulty of having to mark and cut some of the pieces by hand. While I don't have a problem with this ( I did make mistakes but they were on me not the kit) I think this might present a challenge for the inexperienced modeler. Overall I think this was a decent kit and I was happy with the finished product but I wouldn't recommend it to beginner modeler and given the patience and detail required I wouldn't recommend it to the age group its labeled for.
