I was a little hesitant to purchase this kit. ICM is a Russian company & I guess years of Cold War propaganda convinced me that anything made over there had to be somehow substandard. So it was with a little trepidation that I opened that box.
What a surprise waited inside! All the parts were clean with zero flash. Panel lines were sharp & the detail was excellent for the scale! As I began assembly all parts fit together perfectly, much better in fact than some big name model companies.
The low point of the kit was the instructions. They are sparse but in their defense there really isn't much to a IIB U-Boat so not much needed to be said but they are fully adequate. They are printed in both Cyrillic & English & had a full color insert (such as it is for an all grey boat) showing the paint scheme. Decals included are fine & include markings for 2 different U-Boats. Flag that came with it is the PC version, not the historically accurate one. Not a big deal but thought I would mention it.
All in all a very fine model that I would heartily recommend to anyone looking to build one of the arguably more obscure early U-Boat variants. I intend to buy the 1943 version they make as well.
Assembly on mine is done & I have set about the task of weathering it. Assuming I don't botch that I shall post pictures when it is completed.
