"WW2 monsters of steel."
hhpodesta
The two World Wars shown that the great military powers had been increasingly fascinated with the massive, the gargantuan. The book explains the development of the super heavy tanks from 1918-40, with focus in the Char 2C and FCM F1 from France, and the tank programs from 1939-45, starting with the British TOGs, The Soviet Kv-4, The Germans Maus, E-100 and the Jagdtiger (this last the only operational of this list). The Japanese O-I project, the American T-28 and finally the British Tortoise. What is debatable about the author of the book is how the category super heavy is defined. And perhaps a one page table with data of all the vehicles featured for quick comparison - would have been handy. With nice illustrations of each of this tanks, a cutaway of the Jagdtiger and good mostly B&W images. This book is a good, but brief introduction to this steel monsters.
