C-54 Skymaster

A very nice kit of a very cool plane. There was a good amount of flash on the parts but that cleaned up without too much issue and that's basically the only complaint I have. I got the kit used at an auction place and half the parts were off the sprue and loose in a bag. Many parts had been half built, incorrectly. With all that, the model still went together pretty darn well so that tells me it was made good and the instructions were totally workable. Big model too, very impressive display. You will need to add a good amount of weight to the nose if you plan on displaying it on it's landing gear. For the scale and the plane type there is an incredible amount of detail inside with the cockpit, crew quarters, bulkheads and cargo space. Good fun kit.

This kit is MASSIVE. In parts count especially. There are a ton of interior parts that will be built, painted, detailed and never seen again inside the fuselage. While that might be frustrating, leaving the front and rear doors open will allow for peeks inside. The kit is a beast to build- the instructions could be more clear. In several places there are optional parts but no explanation as to which of the 2 versions they belong to. Fit was a bit of a challenge in places - the interior, landing gear and engines especially. The 2 decal options go from simple single bare metal to the high visibility- nothing between. The painting process takes almost as long as the build. Be prepared to fill every hidden compartment with extra weight - otherwise you have a tail sitter. Its a satisfying project to complete and display but will not be done quickly. I loved the challenges faced while building it - and was super pleased with the result.

Has alot of internal details such as cabin, engine, cockpit, cargo hold etc... And markings for two USAF versions including one from ww2 and the Berlin airlift. If you are looking for something intricate and highly detailed aswell as historic get this kit.
