"Somewhat Challenging Spectre"

Not a bad kit but could use a retool. Raised panel lines, some poor fit issues with the wings (as with all Italeri Hercs) minimal interior detail...but this last part leads to plenty opportunities to scratch build a more realistic interior for the gun control center. Its a pretty good size when complete, so you will need space. If I was to do this again (and im still at the moment of review building mine) I would try and detail - more in the interior. The raised panel lines are a bit of a pain to try and keep - so if you are feeling up to it, a rescribe would benefit this kit. While not a first build, its worth picking up, unless Zvezda comes out with one.

Good but not the size you would expect for a transport aircraft

"Decent kit, needs more work than most Italeri kits"

I've built 3 other Italeri kits, and this one differs slightly. The wind shield piece is much larger than the other kits I've done, and requires the use of putty. It didn't match up very well. Other than that issue the build went well. Decals went on well, and it turned out to be a good look model.

Markings

  • One decal sheet with markings for 3 aircraft
  • 1) USAF, 711st, S.O.S./ 919th SOG, Operation "Desert Storm", 1991
  • 2) USAF, 711st, S.O.S./ 919th SOG, Duke Field, Florida, 1990
  • 3) USAF, 16th, S.O.S./ 1st SOG, Hurlburt Field, Florida, 1991
