"B-29 Atomic Bomber Review"
TJet500 (New Jersey)
Extremely detailed kit with many tiny fragile parts such as pitot tubes, antenna, wing lights. Built the Bock's Car version (same parts, different decal choices). Instructions could use more close up detail to determine the positioning of parts. For example, the interior decks are very detailed but it is not clear what side of the ribs in the fuselage they go on. You will be required to repeatedly test fit as you assemble the aircraft. The bomb bay racks are supported by reinforcement pieces to maintain their shape that need to be removed. This is a very difficult process since the supports are thicker than the bombs frames. Sprue mounts are thick, use caution removing pieces. There are additional pieces included with the kit such as propellers plexiglass parts. Acadamy must use the same kit for the post WWII B-50 version (larger tail however is not included). Gun turrets and guns are included but not used since they were removed to save weight for the Atomic bombers. This kit has no crew figures. The only moveable parts are the propellers. Ailerons, flaps, rudders and landing gear are all fixed parts.

parts fit well, minimal flashing. this may be a 1/72 scale but she is still a big bird!! for those wanting a larger scale to help show just how large and formidable this bomber was, the 1/72 scale will give you want you want. i had initially wanted a 1/48 scale but the price was well past $100 each time i found a kit for sale. i bought this kit as a second best to settle on, and after looking through the parts trees i can say i didn't settle for second best at all.

I have 2 versions of this kit in the stash (this and the B50 version). In comparing the two sprue for sprue, the B29 has a bit more flash on it than the B50. That aside, the kit went together nicely, with only the wing joints being an issue. This kit has a ton of interior detail (see images from my build in the gallery) which sadly, will never be seen once the sides are closed up. The kit also comes with two atomic bombs if you are so inclined to add those to your bomb bay. It includes all the parts for a silver plate bird (which are modded to have no gun turrets) or a standard B29 but you will need to source decals for that. Once complete you will need a good amount of space to display it. I added weights into the engines to keep it from being a tail sitter too. It wasnt a difficult kit to build but it wouldnt be a good kit for a first build.
