"Nice building"
eburg199 (Clearwater, FL)
Kit is typical of Walters quality. Includes 3 different pumps for 1950-1960's eras. Assembly is easy for any skill level. Further detailing is up to the individual. I added interior bay details from JL iInovative Designs and office and backroom details from Palace Caar Co. Recommend this kit as a nice addition to a layout for a resonable price.

Features

  • Not too long ago, stations like Al's could be found at every busy city intersection and along most major highways. Premium was 25 cents a gallon, maps were free, restrooms were clean. There was a mechanic on duty who could fix anything. And Al always wore a spotless uniform when he came out to pump your gas, check the oil and wash the windows.
  • Introduced in the late 1930s, box style stations like this sprang up from coast to coast and remained a standard well into the 1950s. Combining the office, restrooms and service bays into one structure, they provided a uniform, neat appearance that attracted motorists. Lots of windows made them bright and cheerful, as did the enameled steel walls decorated in company colors. Although newer stations have taken their place, many survive today as independent garages, body shops, retail stores and offices. A few have even been converted into private homes!
  • Authentic styling looks great on any vintage or modern street scene.
  • Optional pumps are included to match your era, along with colorful decal signs for the finishing touch. Just add vehicles, figures and interior details, available separately, to create a busy scene anywhere along your layout. Finished Model Measures: 4 x 6 x 2-1/16 10 x 15 x 5.8cm

"nice representation of a 1950s gas station"

I used some medium black sewing thread glued to the side of the gas pumps to represent the gas hoses. Also painted the interior walls and added a balsa wood lift with a car in the left bay.

Found this model easy to assemble, dry fitting is always recommended. I especially like the adaptation to multiple era's with the different pumps available.

"Excellent Project"

The Als Gas Station is a nice stylist building with three different gas pumps options, three different styles of road side signage, and several other accessories to add to a realistic service station scenery. The inspection of the kit revealed very little molding flash, all the parts where straight, and accounted for. The directions were clear and easy to follow; but took a little work to get all the building corners and foundation to fit together correctly and seamless. This kit was molded in all white and the walls were thin, which may cause some problem with adding an interior light. I printed the garage doors, building doors, windows frames and top row of structures bricks red; which give the building a nice modern look. Overall this was a great project and fit well in my city district scenery.
