Spotlight Review

The AK Interactive line of acrylic polymer surface primers is a cost effective and practical means to prime your models and figures. While enamel is quite durable, the cost of spray cans can be quite exhaustive on your wallet just as the product(s) are limited by the power of the propellant and quantity of paint contained within. As an airbrush [Badger, Patriot 105] user I have witnessed the potential of the product as it overcomes my own mediocre airbrushing skills. It is suitable to use straight from the bottle and requires no additional thinning. The primer does well to level out and dry with a smooth surface even when accidentally loaded on otherwise. One pitfall is that it can be chipped from the model during routine handling, but this problem is easily countered by always wearing disposable gloves. I would have rated the product 4-1/2 stars if possible, so I rounded to a full 5 as it was the closer option to my opinion. Happy modelling

"Smooth finish"

This product lays down smooth and hard on plastic models. You can airbrush it straight from the bottle or use AK Interactive thinner #712, which is what I do. I build up several light coats then lightly sand the surface. Very durable finish after drying for a day.

"Easy to use, good coverage."
Just needs a little thinning and it is perfect for airbrushing. Very nice coverage, goes down smooth.

"AK Grey Acrylic Primer"

I've been impressed with the AK Grey Acrylic Primer so far. The primer comes in a larger bottle and it had settled, so it took a while to mix thoroughly, but was a good consistency for spraying out of an airbrush once mixed. Adhesion is great, no problems with the primer pulling up with masking tape. A bottle of this will definitely last you quite a few models.
