"Looks Great"
Jon S (Pittsburgh Pa)
Another great building from DMP . This one is a little more involved in the detail and window frames , but take your time and it will turn out fantastic. Use a tiny brush for fine lines . The roof material works wonders for window shading (use the extra pieces ) It could use more roof supports and some front window decorations ( Store front pictures ) to complete the look , but a wonderful building with great old town detail . You're gonna love it

"DPM Models beveled edges"

I have built a number of DPM HO scale model buildings. Yes, some of the wall edges are beveled and need sanding to square. I use 100 grit paper, layed flat, then simply slide the piece back and forth over the sand paper keeping the piece square by holding it against a 1-2-3 block. Perfect results in a minute or two. If you don't like model building, buy the built-up version, but I get no enjoyment out of that.

"Why mold beveled edges, change the mold."

This model kit, and other kits by the same manufacturer, are molded with two edges that are beveled. The manufacturer says this is done because of the molding process. You have to file/sand the edges to square the walls before the kit will go together like it should. Time consuming.

Comments

  • Airbrush painting is the preferred method of painting.
  • Use black construction paper to give your building the illusion of being occupied by blocking the light.
  • Use Woodland Scenics for decals, landscape and terrain modeling.
